A video piece that raises questions about how we look at things and movements, beguiled by the mechanisms of perception.
Slowly moving patterns melt together into forms that evoke the impression of living cells. Out of the altering ectoplasm a man emerges. It appears to be an acrobat, motionless at the highest point of a salto mortale (somersault), free floating in a dark void: a meditative movement in continuous flux.

Ataxia (een medische term die staat voor het verlies van controle over lichaamsbewegingen) is een video gebaseerd op antieke foto’s van Eadweard Muybridge die vragen oproept over hoe we naar dingen kijken. Langzaam bewegende patronen smelten samen in vormen die doen denken aan levende cellen. Uit het veranderende ectoplasma ontstaat een man. Hij blijkt een acrobaat, die bewegingsloos op het hoogste punt van zijn salto in de lucht hangt.
